Thursday...
It was a long day. A busy day. A momentous day. All in all, a good day. I've decided to give you a recap. Just because I'm THAT COOL.
Part 1: Afternoon
I go to band practice at 3:45. I scream my head off and twirl a lot. It ends at 5:45. I run over to the band officer to sign my ticket for the Cal game over to Samantha. I talk to Theresa and Krusty. I run around frantically like a chicken with its head cut off. Then I pull myself together and give Christina her notebook back before she goes to see Blood Wedding at Bing. I come back to Heritage, to catch the tail end of Silk practice, only to find out that it's canceled. I sit around with Sam and Hector. I manage to finish off Samantha's Coke and fries. I apologize profusely, then leave...
Part 2: Early Evening
I go to the University Religious Center to meet up with the Episcopalians on campus. We sit in the kitchen for a while, as I watch them eat pasta and meatballs. I drink a glass of lemonade. Then we migrate upstairs and conduct our meeting. We discuss the joys of cable television. Then we invade the Lutheran youth group's meeting so we can eat ice cream and cake. Damn, it was good cake. (Vanilla and chocolate marble) And then I leave at 8 to go to Manny's apartment. I'm freezing because I forgot a jacket. I forget that it gets cold at night here.
Part 3: Dinner
I reach Manny's apartment after walking down a very, very, very dark street. I guess they don't believe in street lamps in L.A. I go upstairs, and see a beautifully cooked tri-tip, and nothing else to eat. Manny's roommate decides to fix scalloped potatoes, so we wait a long time the final product. So, while waiting, we watched Swordfish, a movie that relied on special effects instead of acting to tell the story. And finally, everything was finished... and we had a good meal. It was lovely. Then I forced Manny to drive me home which took me to the fourth part of the night...
Part 4: Evening
So, it's time to go out clubbing. Samantha wanted to try a "straight" club for once, instead of always going to Tigerbeat. So, her friend Chris, her roommate Claudia, she, and I decided to go to the Ruby. Evidently Chris went there before and really liked the atmosphere. I was told it was "dressy - trendy," so I decided to take the bull by the horns and wear something totally unexpected. Now, I'm normally a black kind of girl when it comes to evening attire... but I decided to go pink. A dress. Bright pink. With stripes. It's very pretty, very feminine, very... not me. But it felt wonderful to be wearing such an incredibly sexy piece of clothing. We leave, and we're all looking totally cute. Then, we walk into the club, and I stop in my tracks. It's a GOTH CLUB! Everyone around me was dressed in ripped corsets, Victorian velvet jackets, boots, and lace. And everyone is wearing black. Our little group sticks out like a sore thumb. I just sit down, start laughing uncontrollably, then berate myself for being so silly. But, we decided to stay for a little bit, and I have to say, it was fun getting that much attention for what you're wearing. We danced a lot in the 80s room, and the other two rooms had really good music, as well. After an hour or so, we decided it was time to leave.
Part 5: Night
Chris wants to compensate us for the rather... interesting clubbing experience. So, he decided to take us to the revolving bar at the top of the Westin Bonaventure downtown. Well, when we got there, it was closed. However, we *did* get to ride in the elevator, and that was just so completely kick-ass. (For those outside of Los Angeles, the elevators are on the OUTSIDE of the building. It's like a rollercoaster ride, almost!) Then we gave Chris one more chance to redeem himself, and he did just that. We went to the Standard downtown, and hung out at their cute retro-fly bar. I had the most amazing fish and chips, and we basked in the "LA atmosphere." I like places like this - funky, unique, and lots of fun. Plus, Chris splurged on the meal, so... it was free for me! Yay!
